WESTERN BASIN LAKE ERIE WALLEYE FISHING
Trolling for trophy Lake Erie Walleye in March and April out of Anchors Away Marina can produce some of the largest Lake Erie Walleye of the year. Lake Erie is know as the WALLEYE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD and it sure proves it early early in the spring. Trolling crank baits high in the water column, we are targeting trophy size spawned out walleye. These spawned out walleye are on one mission and that is to eat. While trolling this time of year it is not uncommon to catch that once in a life time walleye.
Drift fishing for Lake Erie walleyes out of Anchors Away Marina (Port Clinton Area) known as the WALLEYE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. This area of Lake Erie is were the walleye spawn before making their migration east into the central basin. The western basin of Lake Erie is known for a lot of walleyes and many large walleyes being caught. Casting for walleyes in April is an effective way to target these fish. Top Flight utilizes an assortment of hair jigs tipped with minnows and weight forward spinners with nightcrawlers. While Casting it’s not uncommon to catch an assortment of other species of fish like smallmouth bass and yellow perch.
